Fire Door Compliance for Schools and Colleges

Sentinel Projects inspects, installs and remediates fire doors for schools, colleges and education estates across Northampton, Cambridge, Oxford, London and the rest of the UK. We plan the work around your calendar and send teams who are used to working on occupied education sites. We are FireQual-qualified and BlueSky-certified.

The compliance sits with you

As a business manager, estates lead or bursar, you are often the named Responsible Person for fire safety across the site. That means the fire doors, the records and the consequences of a failed inspection land on your desk.

Education buildings are demanding. They are occupied for most of the year, full of children, and covered by design guidance that expects fire doors to perform. When the fire risk assessor or an Ofsted-adjacent inspection asks about your doors, you need a record that answers the question.

Built around the school calendar

The single biggest barrier to fire door work in schools is disruption. We remove it by planning around you:

  • Major works scheduled for holidays and half-terms
  • Smaller works and inspections in term-time evenings
  • Phased programmes across a multi-building site
  • DBS-checked teams, briefed on safeguarding and site rules

Your teaching day continues while the work happens around it.

What we do for education estates

  • Inspection of communal, corridor, hall and flat-entrance doors, with a photographed report
  • Installation of certified FD30 and FD60 doorsets to design guidance
  • Remediation of failed or worn doors, repaired where possible
  • Fire stopping in risers, ceiling voids and plant areas

We work to the Department for Education's fire safety design guidance for schools and to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Education and public estates

We also work across colleges, further education and wider public estates, including secure and MOD-adjacent sites where the same standards and discretion apply. If you manage an estate of this kind, ask us about your requirements.
